Philosophy: The Pearls approach to intramural is micro soccer. Games are kept small to encourage participation by every player. Additionally, the Club sponsors weekly training sessions with professional soccer organizations to encourage the development of individual skills during the fall and spring sessions. At the ages of 5-6, games are played 3 v 3 without goal keepers. This approach allows every player to handle the ball and score goals, the fun part, is plentiful. At the ages of 7-8, games are played 6 v 6 with a goal keeper. Every player touches the ball and the concepts of offence and defense are introduced. At the ages of 9-11, "The Golden Age" of soccer as described by author Tony Waite, games are played 7 v 7 with a goal keeper. The speed and skill of the games increase. It is still a good place for first time players to test their interest and ability in soccer.
